Junetag Recalls 1.7 Million Dishwasher-grills
Heating element doesn't fully charcoal burgers, but fosters kitchen camping

The Junetag appliance company recalled about 1.7 million of its new generation of dishwasher-grills due to faulty scorching elements that don't fully take the rare out of burgers. Junetag, a division of Hurlpool, has sold the hybrid appliances for four years.

"Burgers were not adequately cooked," said company spokeswoman Priscilla Hotkiss. "If you're into sushi beef, then OK. The patties were raw."
Dishwasher-grills have shortened the distance between clean plates and cooked meat for millions of time-pressed Americans.
Retrofitted with more powerful heating elements, the gas-fired dishwasher-grills can crank out enough flame to heat an entire house. "It's orange technology," Hotkiss said. "It's the generation beyond green. And no need to warm up the plates before serving. Suckers are already toasty!"
Some homeowners use the grills to roast marshmallows. "We all gather round the dishwasher and do shish kabobs," said Suzie Sherman of Plain Falls, Alabama. She licks her lips. "The onions get all crispy and yummy."
Sherman points to the dishwasher-grill's unifying effect on her family. "I thought the microwave was a godsend," Sherman said. "But the dishwasher-grill? I could kiss that thing. My husband said it's like campin' in the kitchen. We ended up in sleeping bags next to the fridge. Now that was hot!" She licks her lips. "But then a mosquito bit me on the bottom. Now I'm scratchin'. Course that wasn't the dishwasher's fault."
